Carver is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. Named for John Carver, the first governor of the Plymouth Colony. Carver features the first-ever divided highway in America, Savery Avenue. Carver is also famous for its numerous scenic cranberry bogs – and cranberry growing remains an important, tart part of the town’s culture and economy.
Carver was formed from the older town of Plympton; Carver was incorporated in 1790 on the heels of the country’s independence from England. As in many New England towns, the reason for the town’s creation was that many residents lived too far away to attend church in Plympton. More info at carverma.gov
